Remember, this method is not the same as a clean install, and it only reinstalls the version of OS X that is currently running on the Mac (shown here with El Capitan), whereas Internet Recovery will reinstall the version of OS X that shipped with the Mac (in this case it would have been Yosemite) instead. Obviously the versions of OS X will. OS X El Capitan (10.11) MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms. Markverhyden said: The Apple ID is the issue. If the machine was registered to an Apple ID, which is% certain, AND they have Find My Mac turned on and they have 2FA then it will not work without that PIN code. As mentioned elsewhere Apple's 2FA is horrible.

What are the system and library files should restore manually by doing a clean reinstall of Mac OS x?

To erase and reinstall OS X please read How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support.

You will follow the instructions in the section wipe your drive and install OS X.

Apple does not use the terminology 'clean install', so he has not agreed to sense. File individual system restore would contradict the application of the erasure of a boot volume.

  • Hi all

I did a clean install of El Capitan, which made my 2011 macbook pro currently unusable.

A few days after installation I met problems I've ever had before. Baffled because since my drive hard worked completely fine with the Mavericks and Lion. No disk ever utility error. Computer froze a couple times the 5 years ive had the it. It has been stable.

I explained my failed attempts to solve this problem in another thread here.

So, if this is not relative, which seems to be caused all of this, I concluded it's a failing hard drive?

My question is the only program of value I have logical hard disk Pro X (bought and downloaded 3 days ago) so anyway, given my problems with the hard drive I have can always reinstall logic after I got a new drive and reinstalled OSX?

I'm on a PC at the moment and looked everywhere to find my purchase history of Logic Pro X. The only thing I can find official is my receipt by e-mail. I logged on the apple.com site with my Apple ID and it show nothing bought for the last 90 days. Active iPhone and cant find a purchase history. This suggests to me that you need to check on a mac on the App Store?

Yes. You will need to check and it redownload via the Mac App Store with the original ID of Apple.

  • How do El Capitan to recognize my Canon printer? I did what I think, that's all I can: clean install of El Capitan (another problem); Reinstall the software of Canon from the CD; same impression reset - my printer shows not yet up! This looks more like a bad USB cable or bad printer.

  • Hello

I decided to do a clean install of El Capitan on my Macbook Pro 13 'retina end 2014 using sudo command to set up the USB bootable stick with the latest version of os x for the Mac Appstore. Installation of El Capitan appeared flawless in its execution and first start went well. Before the installation, I just formatted the disk by erasing the current drive and creating a new partition that I chose to implement the OSX on.

Everything seems to be normal and familiar, until I try to log in iMessenger and FaceTime, which, in both cases, does not work after several attempts. Either I was told my internet connection has been lost or authentication failed. In addition to these connection problems, the overall performance of the operating system seems to be awkward and not nearly as smooth with my initial configuration to the factory system.

I started to wonder if the current version of El Capitan available on the Appstore is flawed and broken? Someone else met weird performance / connection problems after doing a clean installation of El Capitan on their Mac recently?

I can't use my Mac like this: someone in the support of Apple technology to address this issue now!

I did the same install clean, but the Apple server. I'm having the same problem, however, there are several threads of people experiencing the same problem with the new OS X updated on El Capitan and some who use Yosemite said that they have the problem of too! It is on the end of Apple

  • I'm helping a friend who has erased his internal HD due to a problem thinking it was a startup disk. She also didn't

    have a backup.

I made an installation on a USB disk using diskmaker. When I try to start now the Option button, I get the recovery partition disk utility.

When I select the bootable as the boot floppy installation disk, I get a message that it cannot be used as the startup disk. The Bless tool was unable to put the current startup disk.

What is the tool to bless and is there something that can help me to do a clean install of El Capitan?

    Thank you

Well, first of all, if you used your identifier Apple to download the operating system and then using your license to install on the machine of someone else will not work because the license is not transferable and is linked to the Apple ID used to get. the recipient would not be able to update the apps or reinstall because they need your Apple ID and password.

If you use recovery, why not just use to reinstall the OS - have you tried designate the hard drive? I would try disk utility to repair the hard drive and the re-partition/format. As far as I know, bless tool is part of the operating system and tries to find a boot disk; I looked, and although I found a lot of questions, I was not able to find a definitive answer.

  • Bootable media created on a flash drive to do a clean installation of El Capitan on my MBP to Mid 2009. Once I'm booted up in the newly created disk, I can't click on anything in the public services. Chaotic strikes me disk utility, but clicking on does not. I can arrow up to my HD, but unable to select erase. To be clear, I CAN click around in disk utility when I'm booted up 'normally' in my HD. But when I restart, press the alt/option key and select the flash drive, I created for the new facility, click on in order to continue this process is not an option.

First aid post ever. Hope that plays by the rules. Thank you very much!

It's very strange behavier. Have you tried to clean your trackpad? Have you tried a wired mouse?

Before you click to install flash player, the mouse was sensitive to other options?

  • Since the update to El capitan OSX 10.11.4 on my Macbook Pro (2012) I can not connect to the app store - ideas? Im not geek so please be gentle!

Try restarting mode without failure. To restart in safe mode, restart the computer and press on and hold down the SHIFT key until the Apple icon appears. The computer starts more slowly than usual because the disk utility checks the drive. After getting on the desktop launch the App store and try to connect. Successful or not, once you're done, restart normally to exit safe mode.

  • I bought a new SSD to replace the SATA drive in my Macbook Pro for mid-2010. I am running Yosemite. What I want to do, is to do a clean install of El Capitan on the SSD. I also bought a pregnant and plan on the use of the old drive as an external backup.

I need some advice: after installing the ssd in the MBP and the old drive in the box, I intend to plug the old drive for the MBP, format the SSD drive and then use a reader flash which I did the Setup file of El Capitan to a clean of El Capitan for the SSD install and then use the Migration Wizard to migrate applications and files from the old drive.

Is there a better way? Maybe install the SSD in the enclosure first, connect to the MBP, then shaped and do cleaning installation of El Capitan?

    All advice is appreciated.

installing the SSD in the pregnant first, connect to the MBP, then shaped and do clean install of El Capitan?

It's better. Some of these Macs experience problems after surgery. The new installation using the outside doing will give you confidence that it works before surgery, and no problem introduced by surgery can be separated from issues of installation and update. It will install and run in an external, just may be a little slow.

  • I want to do a clean install of El Capitan. I am currently using Mavs 10.9.5 and my time machine goes back to 2010. I don't want to migrate everything. I want to start cleaning up. I read a few methods, but I'm curious to know if there is some consensus as to the best method.

Make sure that you have a Time Machine backup.

Download El Capitan and do an install from USB.

Start the installer from USB and install it.

  • My 2 TB Time Capsule is full and will not save. Yet, I have only 1 TB of data on my laptop. Note that I've reformatted the laptop since the last backup with a clean installation of El Capitan.

I bought a 2 TB external hard and have used Time Machine to back up. But I also use my time Capsule, which I save wireless.

Any suggestions on getting my TC back up?

One suggestion would be to copy all existing backups that are now on the Time Capsule 2 TB hard disk. Then, clear the TC and start over again with new backups.

A more expensive option... assuming you want to keep all old backups on the TC... would be to add a new TC and start backups goes in this direction.

Another option... If you do not need to keep all old backups now on the TC... would be to erase the TC and start over again with new backups. The benefit of doing this would be that no new material will be necessary, but the downside would be that you lose your old backup history.

  • Hello everyone,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me with this frustrating problem.

I did a clean reinstall from scratch from vista 32 bit vista 64. None of my goodies (mp3 player, phone... all unfortunately outdated) played on the 64 version. That's why I nuked it.

Resettlement has worked like a charm, except that now I can't get anything external outlets, which worked fine before the reinstall. I used all aspects of the Device Manager and checked for downloads on each. When I go to sound devices, it lists the sound card as 'device high definition audio' and said that the software has been updated.

The internal speakers are the delicious Altec Lansings... and they work fine. In fact, when I plug something into the headphone Sockets, they continue to work.

Therefore, I'm trying to find the name of the card its installed on my build and then find the driver for it.

  • My SSD on my Mac Book Pro got some corrupted files, and I had to replace it. I am trying to do a clean install of El Capitan and it takes forever. It was 10 hours so far, and the status bar is about 75%.

I have a new SSD, the i5 CPU, the 8 GB of RAM and 1 Gbps Internet access speed. For those who take a long time for installation and operating system is simply ridiculous. I used to be an Apple fanboy...

The download is a function of connection. Installation depends on your hardware. Your connection may be 1 Gbit/s, but read this while you wait...

That said, it's a very long download from Apple.

Reinstall Os X El Capitan Without Apple Id

Capitan

If you are already running OS X El Capitan (10.11) and need to reinstall the OS or install a fresh installation to a new hard drive (or partition), you may find as I did that downloading the OS X El Capitan (10.11) from the Mac App Store is simply not working. What I experienced after clicking the Download button was a busy indicator spinning indefinitely and the download never happening. I tried this on several different Macs with the same result. Of course, all my Macs were already running OS X El Capitan (10.11) so my attempts failed consistently on all three.

After contacting Apple Support, my first call ever by the way, apparently Apple now only allows each Mac to download the OS X El Capitan/Yosemite installation file one time per machine. This is what I was told by Apple Support. Also, when looking at my Purchased apps in the Mac App Store the OS X El Capitan did not allow me to download it and showed disabled “Downloaded” button instead, even though the OS install file already on my Mac was unusable. Delete this file had no affect on the ability to re-download the OS installation file.

However, Apple Support instructed me how to accomplish this another way – a legal and supported option. And that is by booting your Mac into Recovery Mode (or OS X Utilities) menu. Here are the steps.

Can I Reinstall Os X El Capitan On My Mac

  1. Reboot your Mac and enter Recovery Mode by pressing Cmd-R during the boot up sequence. You need to hold down the Cmd-R keys until the Apple logo appears. It can take several minutes before the Recovery Mode menu finally appears, so be patient.
  2. Select the Reinstall OS X option and click Continue.
  3. You will be given the option to select the target drive where the new OS will be installed. For me, I had two drives and wanted to install it on a newly attached SSD drive. Also, depending on the your computer you may need to select and connect to WiFi.
  4. A new copy of OS X (macOS) will be downloaded and the installation will begin.
